Background
In the aviation sector, precision and reliability of fuel transfer equipment are essential requirements. Moreover, the evolution of international regulations – particularly JIG standards (Joint Inspection Group) – demands increasingly high-performing, safe, and compliant solutions.
To meet these needs, Silea Liquid Transfer has designed and manufactured a new stainless steel flow meter, developed under the historic Avery-Hardoll brand, which
will be presented for the first time at Inter Airport Europe 2025.
Challenge
Traditional flow meters often face two main limitations:
• Corrosion resistance: conventional materials do not always guarantee durability and safety under demanding operating conditions.
• Regulatory compliance: the aviation sector is subject to strict and constantly evolving regulations, requiring high standards of reliability and precision.
The goal was therefore to create a flow meter that combines mechanical reliability, long-term durability, and full compliance with JIG regulations.
Solution
The new Avery-Hardoll stainless steel flow meter was designed based on the established DM model, already known for its reliability and precision.
The updated version introduces innovative elements to meet the demands of the aviation market:
- AISI 316 stainless steel body and covers: ensuring very low risk of corrosion and full compliance with JIG standards.
- Aluminum rotor with carbon blades: a solution that combines lightness, strength, and durability.
- High flow capacity: capable of handling up to 3000 l/min, maintaining the typical precision of Avery-Hardoll flow meters.
- 4" ANSI RF or FF flanges: versatility for integration with various transfer systems.
- Optimized dimensions: with mechanical head, measuring 403 mm width, 500 mm height, and 400 mm depth.
Results
With this new stainless steel flow meter, Silea Liquid Transfer confirms its ability to innovate in the aviation sector, maintaining the excellence of the Avery-Hardoll brand and anticipating the evolving needs of the market.
